Chaldon is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in the Scottish Borders, praised for its comfort, ideal location for exploring, and attentive owners. Guests enjoyed the proximity to local amenities, the beach, and the enclosed garden. Some concerns were raised about cleanliness and maintenance, but overall, the property provided a pleasant stay for families and pets.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Cleanliness received mixed reviews, with some guests noting mould in showers and floors that could have been cleaner. However, others found the property to be clean and well-presented, leading to a generally positive impression with room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to local shops, pubs, and the beach. The village of Coldingham is described as charming, and the property is well-placed for coastal walks and exploring nearby attractions.

Guests found the house to be comfortable, with plenty of space, comfy seating, and a peaceful garden. Some suggested improvements for garden furniture and mentioned a noisy roof, but overall the comfort level was high.

The property is well-equipped with a superb kitchen, utility room, and ample bathrooms. Some guests noted issues with showers and TV operation, suggesting that some facilities require maintenance or clearer instructions.

While guests appreciated the communication from the owner and the Christmas decorations, there were no specific mentions of gifts that would indicate a consistent level of thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

About this property

Eyemouth 3 miles. This spacious and well-presented detached cottage is situated in the village of Coldingham, on Scotland's south-east coastline, just north of Eyemouth. Only eight minutes’ walk to the beach, this bright and welcoming cottage is perfect for a family or group of friends in need of a break away beside the sea. Upon entering this welcoming property you will feel instantly at home; it is clear that each room has been lovingly furnished in order to provide a comfortable and convenient environment in which to socialise and relax. The delightful sitting room comes complete with sliding doors, leading out to the patio and lawned garden, a perfect place in which to enjoy a class of something cool whilst watching the children play in safety. The well-equipped kitchen feels inviting and exceptionally modern, complete with first-class cooking facilities and a dining area, meaning that guests can swap stories of the day’s adventures as dinner is being prepared. The ground floor is completed by a double bedroom and cloakroom, whilst upstairs you will find two stylish family bathrooms and three tastefully decorated bedrooms, one of which benefits from en-suite shower facilities. Outside there’s always a spot to enjoy the sun at any time of the day as the cottage has gardens to the front, side and rear, as well as parking space for everyone and a place to store your bikes (by arrangement). Chaldon’s central location is one the property’s best attributes, with something for everyone close by. The village centre, offering pubs, shops and a supermarket is within walking distance, whilst Coldingham’s sloping sands, fringed by lush greenery, are situated less than ten minutes away. The stunning St Abb's Head National Nature Reserve is also very close by and offers the perfect day out for birdwatchers, walkers and those who love wildlife, as are interesting local attractions such as Eyemouth Maritime Centre, Paxton House and Chain Bridge Honey Farm. St. Abbs is also the filming location for the recent Avengers movie with the village now being twinned with New Asgard. No matter what time of year you visit, Chaldon offers excellent accommodation for the whole family in a relaxing location close to the sea. EPC Rating: Band E

Eyemouth is a fishing port situated on the east coast, just over the Scottish border. Gunsgreen House is well worth a visit, where you can learn about the history of the town including its smuggling history. Enjoy a round of golf on the cliff top course or explore nearby castles and country houses, a short drive away. With Berwick upon Tweed 8 miles away and Edinburgh and Newcastle upon Tyne both reached in an hour, Eyemouth is a great base for touring the Scottish Borders.

Handy for shop, pubs and a good amount of walking in the area. Great garden for children - very safe. Good for anyone with pets too. All in all a great cottage.

Plenty of space for a big family or even two families. Close to a pub and a clean beach. Long walks available in this area or easy enough just to sit down and relax. Be mindful of being close to a fairly busy road if you have loose pets or children. No problem coming back here though with loads more to explore and do.

Clean, comfortable, lots of sofas. Close to the beach and the lovely harbour nearby. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
