Snaptrip says

River Cottage is consistently praised for its cleanliness, modern amenities, and quiet, comfortable environment. The adjoining country pub is well-received for its food and atmosphere, with no disturbance reported. The location is ideal for country walks and visiting nearby towns, although some guests noted the steep hills. While most found the cottage well-equipped, a few mentioned the lack of a washing machine and mobile signal as drawbacks.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests frequently commend the cottage for its exceptional cleanliness, describing it as spotless and well-maintained. This consistent positive feedback suggests a high standard of cleanliness is upheld.

The cottage's location is generally appreciated for its quiet village setting and proximity to local attractions, though some guests mentioned difficulties with mobile phone connections and the steep walk to amenities, which could be challenging for those with mobility issues.

Comfort is highlighted as a strong point, with the cottage being described as cosy and the beds as comfy. However, a few guests noted issues with the sofa bed and the main bed's foam mattress, slightly lowering the score.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the kitchen's equipment and the pub next door. Criticisms include the lack of a washing machine and the additional charge for WiFi, which impacts the overall score.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as it pertains to gifts or special touches provided by the hosts. No reviews mention gifts, so this category cannot be scored.

About this property

Staithes 0.75 miles.

An attractive traditional, semi-detached sandstone cottage in the rural hamlet of Dalehouse, on the edge of the historic village of Staithes. This characterful Staithes cottage has been lovingly renovated with a contemporary feel, and provides bright, cheerful accommodation. The cosy dining room has French windows leading to a small private decked courtyard, and the spacious sitting room has views over woodland. This well-equipped Staithes cottage offers very comfortable family accommodation with easy access to Staithes itself, local beaches and beautiful walking trails. The fishing village of Staithes offers quaint, cobbled streets and a feeling of stepping back in time, as it is little changed since Captain Cook's day. This Staithes cottage adjoins a quiet country inn which provides good food and refreshments. Staying in this Staithes cottage, you will be well placed to visit the North York Moors and surrounding picturesque villages - be sure to try the steam railway which starts in Grosmont only 11 miles away over the moors.

The seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist's dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides and there is a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliffside to the sea's edge.

It is well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen, as well as useful items such as an iron, ironing board, and hair drier. It is very quiet and relaxing; no road noise and nothing at all heard from the pub next door (which is full of character and is good for both food and drinks). Good parking options; either a space in the pub car park or near to the front of the house. Walking distance to the local Co-op. Well located for car or bus trips further afield, but also plenty of local walking options.

It is a credit to it’s owners and there attention to detail, in short it is a true home from home.
